Health supplies for mothers in Western Puerto Rico

Pregnant women and women with newborns are at great risk after natural disasters. Yachtaid and Maternova are working together to provide critical medical supplies for women and infants in Western Puerto Rico. With yachts and smaller vehicles, Yachtaid can reach ports that are less crowded than San Juan, and populations in greatest need.

Maternova specializes in selecting and testing off the grid, reliable medical supplies for nurses, midwives and doctors–we then work with partners to supply these critical medical supplies to areas in great need.

We are directly responding to the Hurricane’s devastation in Puerto Rico.  We are identifying clinics and the neary ports that will benefit from direct access to life-saving supplies to help midwives monitor pregnant women and their newborns, provide critical care in the event of additional emergencies and supply light and power off the grid.

YachtAid has a very nimble model for delivering aid, using private ships to reach remote areas, often more quickly than traditional aid.

Together we aim to provide critical supplies to skilled health professionals, both local and volunteer, in the Western regions of Puerto Rico.
